Long live the Q5.

Kinja'd!!!

So the beloved Forester XT turbo is dead. Large billows of blue smoke from the tailpipe from a turbo that was only installed in May. I just can’t put more money into a 2005. Wagonius Lesbos Turbodicus est mort.

So long live (lease for 36 months anyway) the Audi Q5. Vive Wagonius Executus Turbodicus.

Bwahahahaha at the Latin name of the Subaru.

Q5 looks great though! Is that a brown interior that I see?

Ooohhhhh, that looks mighty fine.

Did you look into the Allroad at all? The new ones are fantastic.

The salesman told me that 2/3s of all Audis are Q5s. They throw so much inventive at it, I would be stupid to turn it down. Leasing the smaller Q3 was $200 more per month.

I’m sure the AllRoad would have been $400 more.

Wow, I’ll be looking forward to a facelift soon. I swear, every year more BMWs leave the streets of DC and an Audi Q5 or A4 takes it’s place.

I’ve seen a couple renders, but not much else.

Frankly, I can’t wait for the new Q7 to come to the United States. I’ve seen two or three while in Europe, but am yet to see any here. Even as an Audi fanboy, I am really liking how the Xc90 looks though. I’d have to drive both though.

Is there a stage 1 reflash in your future? It does wonders on the 2.0T.

Current XT owner here (2010, though). Compare/contrast the Q5, mostly on hatch space and acceleration.

Your XT is a different animal. My 2005 was a 2.5L WRX. With Cobb exhaust and accessory flash, I was up around 290 crank hp. With STi bars and links, it cornered like a Rex, too.

I’ve not driven a 2010, but I know they got smoother. My 2005 drove like a pissed off teenager.

The Q is smooth. There is a turbo rush starting about 2700 hp, but with so many gears, it never wrings out the RPMs unless your foot is all the way down.

Comfort ride, not at all aggressive, but very confident. Front suspension is part sorcery with twin upper ball joints, etc. Back end never steps out.

Front seat space is about the same (Tiguan has much more!) Rear seat space is about the same as Forester. Maybe a bit more.

Rear storage is about par with Forester. More vertical area. About the same floor area.

New XC90 > new Q7

All day long. I have seen a few of both on the street.

That's really useful, actually. I'm getting bored with the Foz; I don't want to sink a lot of money into modding it because I still drive a ton and would hate the loss of mileage, plus it's just getting uncomfortable as I'm getting older. I'm looking for something equally quick for 30-70mph that gets similar gas mileage, has about the same space, and has quality seats. How much is the lease running you, if you don't mind me asking?

Stage 1 has no hardware requirements and you can put it back to stock very easily.

So I got the ‘loss leader.’ For a 7500 mile lease (bwa-ha-ha!) It was $400 per month. I asked for 12000 and it went to $480. Then I pre-pay the maintenance for the life of the lease as part of the payment and I’m out the door for $480 and $525 monthly.

I’m 40. Time for a grownup car. It is the basement model of the Q but it’s still nice. No streaming Bluetooth (still has phone). No push button start.

Did I mention it tows 4400 pounds? My boat+trailer is 3600. Can’t wait to back this down the ramp with the bros.

a work buddy has had a q5 for several years now and loves it. What kind of mileage were you at on that turbo 2.5 when it went kablowie?

It was not driven kindly, though.

Drove a CVT.

It’s over between us. My Forester was a WRX with a tall roof. The new one is Aunt Linda’s car.
